CSR US Social Responsibility: PACE

Photography Workshop

PACE is a non-profit organisation run by volunteer Engineers & Students in Ann Arbor, MI. Their aim is to empower underprivileged communities primarily through an education program that fosters intellectual, social and cultural development of children. In collaboration with Pudiyador, PACE, runs three centres in the urban slums of Chennai, India which provide after-school care and education to approximately 150 children.

The centres provide kids with a hands-on educational experience through workshops, practical experiments and field trips to science and art museums. The children are also involved in many extracurricular activities like art, music, dance, photography and  sports. A lot of these activities are run by students and engineers from Ann Arbor, who visit and spend time with these children on their trips to India. It keeps the volunteers connected with their roots and fulfills their desire of giving back to the communities.

Pinak Kishore from our Detroit office said, “The funds from CSR are going to play a huge role in expanding our science and maths offerings to the kids. We hope to use these funds to create more experiments, weekend workshops and even trips to institutions like the National Science Fair and the Birla Planetarium”.
