CSR US Social Responsibility: Backpacks for the Homeless

The CSR Detroit office used their Social Responsibility funds to put together backpacks for the homeless. Detroit has been hit hard with the slow economy and there are so many more homeless now, than ever.
With these funds, CSR was able to provide 25 backpacks, each filled with blankets, warm socks, towels, hats, gloves, toiletries and snacks. They were also able to provide 28 coats, for men and women!
CSR delivered them to the Hope Hospitality and Warming Center, which is just a few miles from the office. The center relies solely on donations and was so very thankful. The center is only open in the evenings, and can provide a hot shower, meal, and mats for sleeping, up to 50 people. They told CSR that this year, they are filled every night, and one in three of their guests are first time homeless.
A friend of one of CSR's employees heard about what the office was doing, and she, in turn, was able to have her office do the same project. As a result, the shelter is surprising their guests on Christmas Eve, and giving them the backpacks as a surprise. Kindness really is contagious.
This was an amazing experience for CSR. It brought the team closer together, along with helping the community and realising, they TRULY are blessed!!
